Page 126 of Zheph Skyre is Unfinished

I uploaded what I could get done of page 126 of Zheph Skyre, but it is barely finished. I also couldn't finish page 125 yet. I am going to take a week off soon. Most likely during Anime Boston.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

I finally saw this movie! I waited until it cost only $5.50 at West Boylston Cinemas, and I am very happy I didn't wait any longer to watch it.

This movie had quite a few added differences from the book. Legolas and the female elf were not in the book, the forest was more of a dark place as in very little light, the sequence of the dwarfs traveling downriver in barrels was less action packed than the movie made it out to be, it was never explained where Gandalf went while the dwarfs needed a powerful wizard at their side, the Arcenstone did not have such effects on the dwarf king, and the fight against the dragon Smaug was not in the book. I didn't mind a few of these changes though, as this was a movie and fantasy movies require action sequences to capture audience's attention. The longer sequence with Smaug was very interesting. Not only was this dragon well animated and designed, but the voice and character were absolutely splendid! This dragon was egotistical, frightening, and playful with his prey.

Also, this movie left off a little before I thought it would. I thought the movie was going to end with Smaug being slain, and the third movie was going to focus on the five army war. Apparently they wanted to give Smaug more screen time and I welcome it. I look forward to the last movie. Say what you might about the Lord of the Rings compared to the Hobbit, in this book there is more sense of loss as some of the dwarfs the story follows and the reader gets used to traveling with die. In the Lord of the Rings, out of the nine characters of the Fellowship of the Ring, Boromir is the only one who dies. Indeed Gandalf had perished against the Balrog at the Bridge of Khazad-dum, but technically he comes back as Gandalf the White. Also, quite a few of the side characters we are introduced to in the Lord of the Rings managed to survive as well. For an epic war that almost ended Middle Earth, quite a few characters we got used to managed to survive while many people around them die.

Two Headed Dragon

I drew this sketch drawing for my friend Frank Pozzi, who is also an artist. He wanted me to transfer this image to a canvas so that he can paint it with oil paints from there. I will actually make an entirely new drawing for him, as there were certain details in the image he wanted that I can not fit in here. He might make a few of his own artistic liberties with the finished drawing, and I do not mind. I will try to see if he can give me a digital copy of his painting when he is done. From there, I might edit it in my own way, but I will still give him credit and if I make any money from prints, I will give him half.

Zheph Skyre: Page 124 Complete & 125 Incomplete

I have uploaded pages 124 and 125 of my web comic Zheph Skyre. I finished coloring in page 124, but 125 is still in black and white for now. Page 125 does not have any text on it, but the most text it will have is for sound effects.

Page 124 here shows that Jacques's gang has an advantage over the invading orcs, they have a longer range with their arrows and can reload faster. However, this advantage can be dealt with by the orcs' shields and armor. This is basic warfare tactics. Jahovac seems intrigued by this new challenge. Let's see what he does.

Dallas Buyers Club

I forgot to mention that I saw Dallas Buyers Club recently at the Strand Theater in Clinton Massachusetts.  Matthew McConaughey stars in this film as Ron Woodroof, a man who was diagnosed with AIDS and works around the United States medical system in order to get other AIDS patients the medication they need to live longer. It was very unnerving to see  Matthew McConaughey lose that much weight for this role after seeing him with a better physical features. Such change in weight can have some unfortunate side affects.

Ron Woodroof starts off as a very unlikable character as he appears to be very prejudice against homosexuals, constantly gambles, sniffs cocaine, and partakes in sex with multiple participants. Even after he is diagnosed with AIDS, he starts the business to get other AIDS patients the medicine just to make a lot of money. He does go through some very impressive character developments.

The rest of the cast does very well too. Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto were very good. This is the only part I've seen Jennifer Garner perform in that I liked.

All in all, this was a good film. I highly recommend it.

Page 123 of Zheph Skyre is Complete

Page 123 of Zheph Skyre is complete, but page 124 is still in gray scale. I have some inking left to do, but I uploaded it in the meantime.

Here on page 123 we get to see the majority of the main cast again. As you can see, they are all completely horrified at the appearance of a dragon and a legion of orcs. Vanessa seems to be providing information about these mythical creatures since she has read up about them and Zheph did not believe in them at all. I felt that Zheph would still manage to put in a wisecrack even though the situation is grim.

Page 124 will be finished as soon as I can manage.

2 Creative Haiku's

I wrote 2 haiku's recently. One is for me to say to myself, and the other i want to address to those who have artistic talent, but are lacking in self confidence.

I can imagine
So much potential in me
I will not give up

You can imagine
So much potential in you
You should not give up

Arisia Art Show 2014 Business Cards

As I stated a little while ago, I went to the Arisia 2014, the science-fiction and fantasy convention in Boston. I did not sell too much at the art show, but I did give away a few business cards and flyers for my web comic series. Here are some of the other artists I managed to get business cards from.

I will post a video of what I managed to record on Youtube later.

Here we see a business card for David Lee Pancake, an illustrator and sculptor.

Here is a business card for Andrew Sprague.

Here is the front and back of Jennifer Hunter's business card.

Here is a business card for Kendra Tornheim, who makes jewelry.
This is the front and back of a business card for Matt Mrowka, who makes oil paintings, illustrations, and tatoos.

This is a business card for Sara Felix.

This page contains artwork by the main guest artist to the convention, Lubov.

Page 122 of Zheph Skyre Finished, Page 123 is in Black and White

I uploaded page 123 of Zheph Skyre, but it is still in black and white. I did upload the finished version of page 122.

Here on page 122, we see the dragon angrily tearing down one of the giant bronze tokens on the city wall. This rampage doesn't just endanger the lives of a few humans in the city, but also the lives of some of the invading army it come with. It seems the general knows that the dragon doesn't care about him and his forces and is angered b this.
