Flora in Winter at WAM, 2014

Flora in Winter at the Worcester Art Museum has finally come to an end this past Sunday. We had quite a few really good floral arrangements throughout the museum.

Some of these floral arrangements were even in the bathrooms!

There were several floral arrangements throughout the museum. Some of them were arranged by professional florists while others were arranged by garden clubs in Worcester and in the surrounding towns.

Here on the top floor we have an arrangement by La Jolie fleur. The arrangement was rearranged not long after I took this picture.

This arrangement was for the Alligator Ware Incense Burner from Costa Rican in the Precolumbian Gallery. It was done by Lois Frampton & Deborah Dowson from the Garden Club of Harvard & Lincoln Garden Club.

This arrangement was for The Sea Gull by Milton Avery. It was done by Robin Whitney of the Worcester Garden Club.

This arrangement was for Carina Nebula by Micheal Benson in the Jeppson Idea Lab. It was done by Beverly McClure AIFD from Floral Elegance.

This arrangement was for Tall Case Clock by Edward Duffield in the Decorative Arts Gallery. It was done by   Thelma H. Shoneman from the Acton Garden Club.

This arrangement was for Julie and Aristotle by Alice Neel in the 20th Century Gallery. It was done by Sandra Tosches from the Greenleaf Garden Club of Milford.

This arrangement was for O Paraiso (Paradise) by Beatriz Milhazes. It was done by Kim Cutler of the  Worcester Garden Club. As you can see, I had to take pictures of both sides of this floral arrangement.

This arrangement was for Chapel of the Virgin at Subiaco by Samuel Finlay Breese Morse in the Early American Galleries. It was done by Mary Fletcher from the Worcester Garden Club.

This arrangement was for Rebecca Orne by Joseph Badger also in the Early American Galleries. It was done by Virginia Orlando & Candace Atchue from Seed to Stem.

This arrangement was for Portrait of a Man with a Gun by Ralph Earle also in the Early American Galleries.  It was done by Sally E. Jablonski from the Herbert E Berg Florist Inc. and the Worcester Garden Club.

This here was a floral design by Jeff French Floral and Event Design: The French Bouquet Florist for the sculpture of Flora in the Renaissance Court.

This here was a floral design by Seed to Stem in the Renaissance Court. This floral arrangement included animal skulls. I was cool to see an alligator and a goat skull. There was also a bowl made out of an armadillo skin.

This here was a floral design by Mugford’s Flower Shoppe in the Renaissance Court.

This was just a friendly reminder that armor from the Higgins Armory will be coming to the art museum.

This arrangement was for Camel in the Chinese Gallery done by Valerie Stowe and Elizabeth Nizick from the Worcester Garden Club.

These were actors who dressed up for the first night of Flora in Winter. There was a large celebration.

This arrangement was for The Haymakers by Julien Dupré. This arrangement was made by Susan B. Dewey from the Osterville Garden Club and Worcester Garden Club. This is one of my favorite oil paintings in the museum and I am impressed with how it was interpreted.

This arrangement was for Sleeping Endymion by Nicolas-Guy Brenet. The floral arrangement was made by MaryEllen J O Brien from the Lenox Garden Club.

This arrangement was for Young Shepherd with Sheep and Goats by Jan Baptist Weenix and Bartholomeus van der Helst. This floral arrangement was made by Young Farwell and Helen Blazis from the Grafton Garden Club.

This arrangement was for Venus Disarming Cupid by Veronese in one of the [remastered] galleries. It was made by Sarah Ribeiro of the Worcester Garden Club.

This was an Interpretation of the entire gallery, in one of the [remastered] galleries. It was made by  Kathy Michie of the Worcester Garden Club.

This arrangement had to be viewed from all sides.

This arrangement was for A Processional Banner: The Presentation in the Temple by Luca Signorelli. It was done by Joan Moreschi of the Shrewbury Garden Club.

This arrangement was for Portrait of a Young Lady which is attributed to Willem Key. It was done by   Susan Detjens of the Millbrook Garden Club.

This arrangement was for A Group of Three Figure by II Sodoma. It was done by Kenneth J. Bositis from Bloomer's.

This was an arrangement for Embroidered Child’s Tiger Hat in the Chinese Gallery. It was done by Julie Lapham of the Worcester Garden Club.

This one was for the video art Union by Bill Viola. It was done by Kae Collins who did it in memory of Cathy Walsh.

This was arrangement for A Grand Landscape by Thomas Gainsborough. It was done by Jackie Potenzone from the Sudbury Garden Club.

This was my friend and coworker Sonya Richards. She dressed up for the party on Thursday night despite the fact that she didn't have to, which was awesome! Check out her numerous performances around MA if you ever get the chance. She is a really good actress!
