Goodnow Library Art Show

I have an art show at the Goodnow Library in Sudbury, MA. I am sharing the space with Elizabeth Swallow and Richard Lagueux. I myself have nine digital prints on display, Richard Lagueux has about nineteen acrylic paintings on display, and Elizabeth Swallow has various pieces of artwork in different mediums hanging on the walls as well as in the display case.

As you can see from the flyer above, we have very different art styles in different mediums on display.

We currently don't have any descriptions on display, but I have left some business cards and flyers for both the show and my web comic.
We pretty much have outside and inside of the meeting room at the library, however we wanted our pieces to have enough light on them, so we had to condense many of the pieces together.
The three of us are currently or have worked at the Worcester Art Museum.  We are all also participants in the Genesis Club's Art Committee in Worcester.
The library can not post prices for our artwork, however, if there are any art pieces anyone is interested in purchasing just contact me. I can redirect your questions to Elizabeth or Richard depending on which piece you are interested in buying.

Genesis Fundraiser Event

I'm going to be attending the Genesis Club's fundraiser event at Mechanics Hall this Thursday. There I will have an art piece on display that will also be for sale, I will have artwork on a group sculpture. I will also be video taping the event for WCCA TV13. For everyone else, this event will cost $100 to attend.

Oil Painting

I was always forced to paint with acrylic in college, but my professors always told me to learn to use oil paint instead because it has better results.

This is a painting I started to paint with acrylic, but then I went back into it with oil paint. It looks more dynamic so far, but there is still some more detail I want to add to it. It is a dragon and a phoenix, though it won't have too much detail in the end.

This painting will be used for the sculpture the Genesis Art Committee is planning to make and the whole piece will be displayed at the Genesis 2013 Annual Fund Raiser. I might be going there myself if one of my pieces are chosen.

The Sprinkler Factory

There is an art gallery called the Sprinkler Factory located at 38 Harrow Street in Worcester, MA, not too far from the Genesis Club House. I know that the name sounds strange, but it is a genuine art gallery and it contains studios that artists work in. Here are some business cards from the gallery.

I have stopped by there one time so far, but I do intend to visit it again.

The Genesis Art Committee was looking into this gallery for a possible show for the artist members, but supposedly we are looking more towards Arts Worcester the Aurora Gallery. Perhaps I'll look into showing my work here on my own at some point.

Page 43 of Zheph Skyre without color and Genesis Holiday Postcard

Sorry everyone, I could only get page 43 of Zheph Skyre done without color. Things have been busy for me with the holidays right around the corner.

I forgot to mention on Monday the Art Committee of Genesis Club had shown us the Holiday postcard for this season. I found the quote we decided to use on the back of the postcard:

"These tender memories are;---a fairy tale. Of some enchanted land we know not where, but lovely as a landscape in a dream."

- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

It goes along with the image on the front and it is from a Holiday poem.

The image was an acrylic painting by Genesis member Rick Lagueux. We all found it to be quite wonderful. Unfortunately the postcards we have printed right now are too small, and will have to be reprinted in the normal postcard size. There are a few other details on the back that have to be edited.

Clarification on the Genesis Club

I had another Art Community Meeting at the Genesis Club today. It was clarified to me that in order to become a member, you have to have a mental illness like schizophrenia, depression, or bipolar which would result in hospitalization at times and would require medication. I have autism, but I have not required neither hospitalization nor medication for it. I cannot be a member of the Genesis Club.

I was however allowed to be a volunteer for the Art Community and would be allowed to stay at least to help with the meetings and organization of the artwork from members of the club.  I might also be a valuable source of information regarding certain artistic techniques. This is actually preferable to me, because I know that I do not require the type of assistance they provide the majority of their members, but I do want to help out. This is a chance for me to put forth my talent and help others.

The Genesis Club: Tour

Today I took a tour of the Genesis Club in Worcester, MA.I had no idea that there were multiple Genesis Clubs around the world, but now I know. I also found out a lot of things about the Genesis Club. For instance, they help its members find jobs, they make food at discounts, they help the members if there is no response whatsoever for too long in their homes, and they are all very close. It seems like a nice community.

I came back to the club a few hours later for the Art Community. I wish I got there earlier because I missed quite a bit and the meeting was short, but I will definably be back. Besides the two coworkers I already new, I met some friendly artists. I look forward to working with them.

I saw the Avengers this past weekend, but I will blog about that tomorrow.

Art Genesis at the DZian Gallery & Mental Health

I had just received this flyer from a coworker today while I was working at the Worcester Art Museum. Two of her art pieces and one painting from another coworker are shown on this flyer. This flyer has been making me think about a few things as well.

I have visited both the DZian Gallery and the Genesis Club websites, and both of them appear to be quite interesting. I myself will try to inquire about both groups. Maybe I could have some of my own artwork shown.

The mental health awareness has made me think about my own life. I was diagnosed with autism, a type of social disorder, when I was very young. Luckily, my case was not too severe to render me of the choices I was able to make in life. My mother did a study on the subject and made a few TV appearances due to it. She received calls from all over the country asking her about this condition.

I recall from the recorded videos that the cause of autism and for several cases in the local area was that one of the two parents of the child diagnosed with autism, when they were children themselves, had hung out around this sun glasses factory that was polluting the water with its wastes. There are people even nowadays are ignorant to taking a stand against polluting the environment, but the number of children with autism have grown from twenty years ago!

I have heard of more and more people who are working with mentally disabled children. It is obvious that we are doing something wrong in the world! Pollution isn't only hurting the natural environment, it is affecting the people of the world! If we don't do something soon, we won't have a future to look forward to!

I do not regret having this condition, for even with it I have managed to make have great, healthy relationships with my family and friends. I am just concerned about the next generations... if there will even be a next generation...
