Goodnow Library Art Show

I have an art show at the Goodnow Library in Sudbury, MA. I am sharing the space with Elizabeth Swallow and Richard Lagueux. I myself have nine digital prints on display, Richard Lagueux has about nineteen acrylic paintings on display, and Elizabeth Swallow has various pieces of artwork in different mediums hanging on the walls as well as in the display case.

As you can see from the flyer above, we have very different art styles in different mediums on display.

We currently don't have any descriptions on display, but I have left some business cards and flyers for both the show and my web comic.
We pretty much have outside and inside of the meeting room at the library, however we wanted our pieces to have enough light on them, so we had to condense many of the pieces together.
The three of us are currently or have worked at the Worcester Art Museum.  We are all also participants in the Genesis Club's Art Committee in Worcester.
The library can not post prices for our artwork, however, if there are any art pieces anyone is interested in purchasing just contact me. I can redirect your questions to Elizabeth or Richard depending on which piece you are interested in buying.

Elio Sonsini's Art Gallery

This past Wednesday November 6th, I went to the Italian American Cultural Center to film an art gallery opening for an Italian artist named Elio Sonsini. Here is his business card:

This artist has quite a few really good pieces of artwork. It is surprising that a lot of his paintings are in acrylic and watercolor as many artists prefer oils. He prefers acrylic over oil because it works better with water.

Many of his pieces are based on areas outside of the United States.

There was also a large assortment of really good food served for everyone who attended the gallery opening. There was pizza, bacon wrapped scallops, vegetables and dip, punch with sorbet in it, and various other tastey treats.

I filmed this for WCCA TV13. I am not sure when this will be aired, but when it is, I will show it in a blog post. I still have to edit the footage.

I got an interview with the artist, and I was able to film his artwork. His gallery will be open for a short while, so check it out!

New Year 2013!

Happy New Years Everyone! I hope everyone has a good 2013!

I have posted this image on my web comic site Zheph Skyre and my portfolio site. I have edited this acrylic painting of my dog Jack Frost on my computer and I like how it looks now.

I have recently acquired a new domain space for my web comic. It will no longer be updated at www.jdaltobelli.com/webcomic. From now on, it will simply be at www.zhephskyre.com. I believe this change will help bring more viewers to my websites and open more possibilities for me. I wanted to keep my portfolio professional while I keep my web comic as entertainment.

Christmas, Web Comic Sketch, & My Mom's Gift

Christmas was very relaxing. I hung out with family for 3 days, got some interesting presents, ate a lot of food, and relaxed. The holiday season prior to Christmas was actually a little stressful.

Happy Holidays! I decided to post this sketch yesterday on my Zheph Skyre web comic page. It is the entire current cast all wearing reindeer antlers, with Zheph wearing Rudolph's nose. I thought it would be funny.

My web comic will be updated this Friday. I am hoping to upload a colored picture of the last page I made.

I gave this acrylic painting of our dog to my mother. In the photograph I took for this painting, there was the pellet stove and wires in the background. I was wondering what to put in the background until my friend Liz suggested a Christmas tree. I decided to have my mom's smaller tree in the background because she likes it more. It is decorated with the more serious decorations while the larger holds everything else.

Here is an acrylic painting I made in college of some fabrics draped over some furniture. It was one of four exercises in the painting class and it is my best painting from that coarse. I have the original framed at a store called in West Newton. It is currently for sale.

In order to have this painting posted on my website, I had to do some editing. I have done a little bit of what I have done with my past paintings, but now I have tried a few other editing effects to show a bit more variety.

I have not decided whether or not to keep this particular order for these rectangles quite yet, so it is not entirely finished. Once I have made a decision, I will post it on this blog and on my website.

Carrie Moyer Exhibit

There is a new installation of artwork in the Contemporary Gallery at the Worcester Art Museum. It features paintings done by Carrie Moyer.

Her work is obviously abstract, with odd shapes and vivid colors. I find it weird that she uses acrylic paint. My teachers from college had us paint with acrylic only because oil paint would ruin the galleries. The teachers all suggested that when we leave college to try oil paint instead, and they told us we would get better results. I have also noticed many more paintings in museums done with oil paint than any other medium. Alas, there are artists who can use anything in order to make great art. I once saw beautiful scenes of nature done entirely by Crayola crayons, and I mean a full grown man used the type children use.

I also find it funny that she uses glitter in some of her artwork. Glitter just seems like a cheap craft material, but she uses it sparingly mixed with the paint.

Check out her work at the museum. This gallery will only have her work for a few months.
