Grimm Reaper
This is another one of the main antagonists from my Zheph Skyre series. He looks a lot like the Grimm Reaper, but he is not. He is still very powerful and feared as if he were Death himself.
Think of this character as a combination of a ninja, zombie, cyborg, and Magneto from X-Men. Many in my series claims he is the source of zombies in my fictional world, but they all know for certain that he leads an elite force of ninjas/cyborg ninjas that follow his training. The metal magic he can use allows him to mold weapons from nearby metal, primarily the metal cloak that he wears and always keeps moving with his focused mind.
When people describe certain characters as the strong, silent type, he fits that description perfectly. And that is not only because he is a mute. As you can see, he has no mouth or nose, so he primarily communicates through sign language. He could have had implants to have given him a robotic voice, but this suits him better. This way he can remain as silent as death, and he teaches the other ninja to behave as such on missions.
I don't think there are that many mute characters in animation. It could certainly be easier at times to animate hand movement rather than mouth movement that follows the voice of the actor. I don't know, I think it is at least interesting.
